I'm home!

It has been pointed out to me that people would read my blog if I posted on it. So I've made a resolution to post on it again. I'll be putting updates about my Christmas break, and when I'm back at school in January I will attempt to keep it up - hopefully I will include photos from time to time. Those updates will be dedicated to Stephanie.

I had a remarkable plane ride. I got to the airport about 9:00 a.m. because I found a ride at that time. My plane didn't leave until 2. However, I was able to switch to a 10:30 flight. Would you believe - Sherri also had her flight switched! Her and I were on the same flight to Charlotte, North Carolina. Our connections then took us to Arizona and Florida. So Sherri and I sat next to each other on the plane and got to talk. It was very neat.

I came home and took a nice nap. Yesterday night was church, and a special treat - an African children's choir. The African Children's Choir is a Christian ministry / AIDS awareness effort. Most of the children, from ages 6-10, have lost loved ones to the AIDS epidemic. They are travelling for one year, doing amazing performances in singing and dance. Their travels are designed to raise money for the African Children's Choir ministry, who reaches out to children in Africa with schools. When the children return to Africa, they are provided an education all the way through college. Children coming out of this program are already doctors, lawyers, and pastors.

We had six African girls (from Uganda) staying with us overnight. They just left our house. I loved them SO much! They played with my dolls, swam in the jacuzzi... and were just downright adorable. I felt like I was at home with them - the same way I felt in Africa. The whole experience is making me really want to go back to Africa and minister to children there.

Then, tonight, a missionary and his wife (from France) are coming. Tomorrow night, my mother is hosting a Christmas party for all the church staff. I've come back to a very active social life. But it's great!

Hope all of you PHC'ers are doing well in your respective homes. I haven't gotten as much rest as I could have, but I couldn't have been happier getting to spend time with six little African girls.
