Back at PHC

Yes, I am back at PHC, after a wonderful, God-filled and blessed break. It's kind of strange in a way to be back. This evening Sherri and Jennifer and I went out for pizza and browsed through a bookstore. Then, I got to talk to Stephanie tonight on the phone for awhile, and that was really great, one of the highlights of my day. After that, you should have seen us all crowded in to D1, taking turns talking to Stephanie on a little cell phone. There were pillow fights, and glove-throwing episodes, and Daniel wrapped a pink scarf around his face, Sherri said he looked like a Muslim woman, Jeremiah got a pillow snatched from behind him by Monica, Sherri admitted to being a communist, I admitted to owning a black cat... Yes, I am back at PHC. It felt good to be with everyone. I know this semester is going to be different (after all, it is a new semester), but I look to the Lord for His strength.

Getting my grades back from Avril Wright (finally) was actually suprising. I was expecting them to be much lower, so it was a very pleasant suprise. I'm happy with them. I think I did my best, and that's what counts, right?

It doesn't feel like I'm actually starting class tomorrow. I think it will be a good semester. Tomorrow I have Biology and Freedoms II. I've heard Dr. Gruenke is really great, so it will be neat to take a class with her. I think it will be good to learn more / review about how the way God made the world in Bio. Learning about His miraculous creation shows just how great he is. And Freedoms, I'm looking forward to that class. I don't always get stellar grades in that class, but it's one of my favorite classes to be in, and I think I probably learned more in that class last semester than in any of the other ones. Philosophy . . . well, if I can survive Nietzche, I can survive anything, right? I've already survived Dr. Bates killer quizzes, nasty Freedoms finals, being sick... Surely if God was faithful to get me through all that, He won't let me down this semester. I will survive, and the disco ball will NOT drop on my head!

I usually don't write this much on "faces." But this is a verse that has really been encouraging me lately -

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. - 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

Isn't that just life though?

I love God, he is so good. And so faithful. Here comes another semester - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
